Doctor, 2 others arrested for illegal sex determination in Uttar Pradesh

Ahmednagar: Days after an Ahmednagar-based resident faked his death to fraudulently claim insurance money of Rs 2 crore, a doctor who is reported to have aided them by issuing the fake death certificate was arrested by the Shivaji Park police.

The 35-year-old doctor worked as the superintendent of the health department at Ahmednagar. The doctor had issued a fake death certificate claiming that the main accused had died in a road car accident in Ahmednagar.

The main accused who had faked his death, Dinesh Taksal along with his two friends were arrested by the police earlier. The accused had acquired insurance worth Rs 2 crore in 2015, and the money was claimed in 2017 under the pretest that Taksal died in a road car accident in December 2016.

However, upon inquiry by the insurance company, Taksale was found to be alive. An orphaned man who had died in the accident was shown as Taksale, who then prepared the post-mortem note and applied for the insurance claim. A woman claiming to be Taksale’s mother had identified the body.

Meanwhile, the police are also on the lookout for a police constable who is reported to have helped the accused in fabricating documents to claim the insurance money. The constable helped by registering the claim that the unknown person who died in the road accident was Taksal.

Speaking to TOI, a police officer said, “Deshmukh is posted at Ghargaon police station, but since his name cropped up, he has gone underground. Kevare and Anil Latke were in constant contact, cell phone call records showed.”

The police are currently also searching for the woman who identified and claimed his body, as his real mother was unaware of the incident. Further, they are trying to trace the original identity of the person who actually died in the accident.

A source said, “The absconding police constable may be able to throw light on the deceased and also if it was a genuine accident, or they killed someone and staged it as as an accident.”
